Raised by gypsies in Central Saskatchewan, Varlette DeVive's life was anything but a Cabaret. From dancing duets with gophers, singing sultry solos for coyotes and living solely off chokecherries, Varlette has never balked at the absurd, terrifying, or overtly delicious.
One day, while swimming up the sensual South Saskatchewan River, Varlette was caught in a young fishmonger's net. She was brought to Vancouver to be sold at the Granville Island Public Market, "fresh off the boat". Thankfully, Momma Kitty's lust for all things seafood led her to Varlette.
Stray Cat Cabaret is now this vagabond's home. Varlette DeVive can at last rock her gypsy soul for audiences whose attention spans' far surpass that of gophers and coyotes.
Varlette DeVive aka Kendra Anderson - asst producer for the SCC. As well as writing, choreographing and keeping Mommy Kitty sane, she also is a professional actor for stage, television and film. She has yet to add magician and contortionist to the list. But we're working on that.
